Welcome to Lights On

Welcome to Lights On

"Lights On Afterschool"

The Horizon Kids Program with the Leavenworth Public Schools Education Foundation had a "Lights On" celebration on Thursday, October 18th.  We have three after school programs located at David Brewer, Howard Wilson, and Muncie Elementary.  We started off our event with each school participating in a community service project called, "Sight Night".  This community service project is to collect eyeglasses an sunglasses for children and adults in developing countries that do not have access to eye care.  We walked the neighborhood at our schools and placed door hangers on doors to inform them of our project.  When we arrived back at school we decorated light bulbs, painted mini pumpkins, made a fun halloween skeleton hand snack and played fun games in the gym.  The kids had a great time and enjoyed all the activities.

I was very glad that we participated in the "Lights On" celebration because after school programs are very important for parents and children.
